108    CHEEK, WILLIAM CEMETERY (CA. 1881 OR BEFORE)

Location - In NW Bingham Township north of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Located on the eastern side of a dirt road extension of Nick's Road (SR #1119) [possibly a private road, and apparently where it crosses Oak Grove Church Road (SR #1117) - 1996 comment]. Road extends from paving up hill and the Cheek Cemetery is located 2 miles from the paving of Oak Grove Church Road (SR #1117), well behind the third trailer across a ravine. The cemetery is enclosed by a chain link fence.


Survey - This cemetery was surveyed on June 25, 1976.

Graves, Unmarked - 1 unmarked grave (child) surrounded by brick coping.

Current Status - The cemetery formerly on John McAdams land is now in a trailer area. A recent thorough renovation removed the original old inscribed pine markers and replaced them with modern stones, cleared away the long growth of periwinkle (but left it outside of the new chain link fence). Wm Cheek was buried here on land belonging to his 2nd wife Mary (Polly) Jones; her burial spot appears to be unknown.

william Cheek Was The Third Child of Robert Cheek (1779-Mar 1865) and Martha (-------), (1781-?). He Married (1) Mary (polly) Craig (11 Jun 1805-10 Jan 1863); (2) Mary (polly) Jones, Ca. 1865; And (3) Penelope (penny) Williams Bishop, (d. 1906).
